[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Gentronics, a manufacturer of daily quarantine products, announced on the 26th that it has developed and launched an automatic control UV sterilizer (ZAU-P08) capable of quickly and instantly sterilizing viruses and bacteria, including the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The product enhances sterilization power by combining UV-C ultraviolet light with a sensor. Additionally, to prevent direct human exposure to ultraviolet rays, it is designed to automatically turn off when human movement is detected and operate when no one is present. This is an innovative product that reversely applies the sensor function commonly used in daily life.

Moreover, the operating time can be adjusted as desired according to the environment. It is also equipped with a special lamp that does not generate ozone harmful to the human body, sterilizing both air and surfaces simultaneously. To compensate for the shortened lifespan of the lamp caused by repeated on/off operation depending on passenger presence, a special UV-C lamp is installed, securing a maximum usage time of up to 20,000 hours.

It can be easily installed not only in elevators but also in restrooms, offices, and other places. Gentronics explained that the advantage of the sterilizer is its quarantine effect of turning the space into a safe zone from COVID-19 when the UV sterilizer is installed.

Gentronics’ automatic control UV sterilizer (ZAU-P08) obtained KC certification from the National Radio Research Agency earlier this month. The patent application has also been completed.

Nam Jihyun, CEO of Gentronics, said, “While considering ways to solve the problem of enclosed spaces through daily quarantine, we developed an automatic control sterilizer by borrowing the function of sensor lights commonly seen in daily life,” adding, “We introduced a safe space sterilizer to alleviate the increased anxiety about indoor spaces due to COVID-19.”
