Jangseong-gun Expands Jangseongho Parking Lot Threefold to Alleviate Inconvenience

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 26th that it has expanded the parking lot at Jangseongho, a "tourist hotspot" visited by an average of 10,000 people on weekends, to three times its original size to resolve parking inconveniences.

Jangseongho rapidly rose as a tourist attraction after the creation of the waterfront trail and suspension bridge in 2018.

This year, it gained even greater popularity by opening the "Golden Bamboo Forest Trail," which considers the mobility-impaired, and the second suspension bridge, the "Golden Suspension Bridge."

The newly introduced "Forest Trail" on the right side of the lake was spotlighted as a unique trekking course where visitors can enjoy the lake scenery harmonized with the suspension bridge.

The problem was the parking shortage. Since the original first parking lot had only 210 spaces, on weekends the parking queue extended to nearby local roads.

The county expanded the Jangseongho parking lot and renovated existing parking spaces including repainting lane markings.

The first parking lot was increased by 330 spaces, and a new second parking lot with 150 spaces was also established, securing a total of 480 additional parking spaces.

Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, "The Jangseongho parking lot has been significantly expanded to 690 spaces, more than three times its original size," adding, "We expect this to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce accident risks."
