BGF Group, 3355Al Acorn Tree Moves to Sangam-dong

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Acorns that have grown from tiny seeds into sturdy baby trees (saplings) have moved to Sangam Noeul Citizen's Park to welcome the autumn season.

BGF Group announced on the 26th that it launched the 'Growing Acorns of Hope' campaign in May, encouraging CU franchise owners and employees to incubate acorns at home.

In response to the caution around environmental protection activities involving large gatherings due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the campaign was designed as an untact (contactless) activity that families can easily and enjoyably participate in at home.

The 'Growing Acorns of Hope' campaign resonated with many, and all 3,355 acorns prepared by BGF Retail were claimed within five hours of the application opening.

The 'Moving Baby Acorns' activity held this month is the second phase of the 'Growing Acorns of Hope' campaign. Over approximately five months, acorns nurtured into baby trees by franchise owners and employees with care are transplanted to a tree-growing site with ample nutrients and space to grow into mature saplings.

This activity was also conducted under the concept of a 'baby acorn tree packing move' in accordance with the social distancing level 2 guidelines.

Acorn parents pack their baby acorn trees following the guidelines and send them to Sangam Noeul Park, where managers of the nonprofit Noeul Park Citizens' Association transplant them to the tree-growing site on their behalf. Acorn parents can check their baby acorn trees through photos.

Since the social distancing level was lowered to level 1 on the 12th, acorn parents have also been given the opportunity to personally transplant the baby trees they raised to the tree-growing site.

About 70 CU franchise owners, BGF Group employees, and their families (up to five people) visited Noeul Forest to carefully transplant their baby acorn trees to the tree-growing site. They also assisted with moving baby acorn trees sent by acorn parents who could not visit in person via courier. Additionally, they contributed to planting activities by transplanting saplings that had grown into mature trees from the tree-growing site into the forest.
