[Chairman Lee Kun-hee Passes Away] CJ Chairman Lee Jae-hyun: "Proud Uncle, Heartbroken"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Lee Jae-hyun, Chairman of CJ Group, stayed for about 1 hour and 30 minutes at the funeral hall of his uncle, Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Group, before leaving.

Chairman Lee Jae-hyun arrived at the funeral hall of Chairman Lee Kun-hee, set up at Samsung Seoul Hospital in Irwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 3:40 p.m. that day. He paid his respects together with his wife Kim Hee-jae and his children, Executive Director Lee Kyung-hoo and Manager Lee Sun-ho and their spouses.

Visiting the funeral hall through a separate entrance, Chairman Lee Jae-hyun expressed his condolences through CJ, saying, "It is shocking that my proud uncle has passed away so early."

Regarding Chairman Lee Kun-hee, Lee Jae-hyun said, "He was a great person who left significant achievements for the national economy, loved his family very much, and was a proud uncle to me who led the large family well. It is shocking that he passed away so early, and I am deeply saddened and heartbroken. I pray that he rests peacefully in heaven."

Chairman Lee Jae-hyun of CJ is the eldest son of the late Lee Maeng-hee, former Chairman of Cheil Fertilizer and eldest son of the late Lee Byung-chul, the founding chairman, and is a cousin of Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics.
