Ice Cream, Coffee, and Salad 'Subscription'... SPC Expands Contactless Services

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] As non-face-to-face consumption becomes a part of daily life, the food and dining industry is continuously launching subscription services to enhance consumer convenience and satisfaction.

Recently, the hottest subscription service trend is at SPC. According to the distribution industry on the 25th, Baskin-Robbins, operated by SPC Group, launched an ice cream subscription service called ‘Pink Bird.’

Pink Bird combines the color ‘pink,’ symbolizing Baskin-Robbins, with the meaning of an ‘early bird promotion,’ allowing customers to purchase new products faster and at a reasonable price.

The ‘Pink Bird Subscription Pack’ consists of a ‘New Product Subscription Pack,’ which provides next month’s new ice cream in pint size in advance, and a ‘Ready Pack,’ which offers one of seven best-selling ice creams such as Cherry Jubilee, Mint Chocolate Chip, and New York Cheesecake in a generous 474ml size.

The cost is 14,700 KRW per month after applying a 15% discount to the regular price of 17,400 KRW. Applications are available until the 28th via the Happy Point and Happy Order applications, and delivery will be made on the date and time specified by the customer between the 29th and 31st. If customers use the ‘Pink Bird’ service continuously for three months, various benefits such as a mobile coupon for one free ‘Ready Pack’ will be provided.

Paris Baguette has started expanding its subscription service, which allows customers to enjoy coffee, salads, and sandwiches, to franchise stores. Paris Baguette had piloted the subscription service mainly at directly operated stores in July and is now expanding it to franchise stores.

The subscription service can be used in two ways: ▲ ‘Coffee Subscription Service,’ which allows customers to enjoy Cafe Adagio Americano ▲ ‘Salad & Sandwich Subscription Service,’ where customers can choose one of four popular products including protein-rich roast chicken salad, Cajun chicken salad, deluxe sandwich, and lunch sandwich.

For the coffee subscription service, customers can choose between 20 times (19,800 KRW) or 30 times (29,700 KRW) usage over a month (30 days), receiving up to a 67% discount. The ‘Salad & Sandwich Subscription Service (60,000 KRW)’ offers up to a 33% discount for 15 uses in a month.

Using the service is simple. Customers prepay for the desired subscription service at the store, then show the mobile barcode from the Happy App at the store to use it. Operating stores can be checked on the official Paris Baguette website.

Earlier, Dunkin launched a subscription service called ‘Magazine D,’ allowing customers to enjoy refreshing coffee every day for a month. Magazine D is a subscription service that allows customers to drink one small iced Americano daily for 30 days. The subscription costs 29,700 KRW, about 70% cheaper than the regular price. This month’s service was sold for a week until the 13th via the Happy Point application.

An SPC Group Dunkin representative said, “After about two months of testing, we officially launched Dunkin’s first subscription service, ‘Magazine D.’ We plan to offer various benefits with Magazine D every month, so please continue to show your interest.”
