Controversial Ad Targeting 'Ivanka Couple' in the Heart of New York City

'Anti-Trump' Conservative Republican Group Runs Ad Criticizing COVID-19 Mishandling
Ivanka's Side "Will Sue for Damages if Not Removed"

[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] Ahead of the U.S. presidential election, a large billboard criticizing President Donald Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner appeared in New York's Times Square. The Ivanka couple immediately responded with a lawsuit threat.

On the 24th (local time), according to the New York Times (NYT) and others, the Republican conservative group Lincoln Project, known for its 'anti-Trump' stance, ran an ad criticizing the couple's response to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The ad displayed the number of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. and New York next to a photo of Ivanka, a White House advisor, making a hand gesture, and next to a photo of Jared Kushner, a senior White House advisor, it included the quote, "(New Yorkers) will suffer, but that's their problem."

The statement was included in an article last month by the U.S. magazine Vanity Fair, citing an anonymous source. The billboard also depicted multiple body bags next to Kushner's photo.

As the ad attracted attention, the Ivanka couple responded immediately.

According to a letter released on Twitter by the Lincoln Project, the couple's lawyers claimed the ad was "false, malicious, and blatant defamation," warning, "If this billboard is not immediately removed, we will undoubtedly file a lawsuit seeking substantial compensation and punitive damages."

However, the Lincoln Project rejected this, calling it "nonsense," and stated, "The ad will continue."
