PLEATS MAMA Launches Korea’s First Jeju PET Bottle-Based ‘Jeju Edition’ F/W 3 Items
Pleatsmama launches Korea's first Jeju Edition F/W 3-piece collection using recycled PET bottles from Jeju
PLEATS MAMA has newly released three F/W new products of the second Jeju edition ‘Life of JEJU’ of the Jeju resource circulation project ‘Return for Rebirth.’
The ‘Return for Rebirth’ project began in April through a business agreement between PLEATS MAMA, the Ministry of Environment, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Hyosung TNC, and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation (Jeju Samdasoo) to establish a circular resource ecosystem system to solve the worsening waste problem in Jeju. Through this project, PLEATS MAMA led a new trend of recycling in collaboration with the local community by launching the first fashion item, a polo knit, along with the ‘Eco Bag Jeju Edition,’ which is the first in Korea to use 100% recycled yarn made from Jeju PET bottles.
For this F/W season, PLEATS MAMA proposes an innovative way to enjoy Jeju for a long time by adding three new products?fleece, cross bag, and laptop pouch?through the second edition ‘Life of JEJU’ of the project. Notably, these new products feature a ‘genderless’ design suitable for anyone regardless of gender and are made using PLEATS MAMA’s unique knitting method, minimizing waste materials during production, making them ‘zero waste’ products.
MCM Upcycling Project Exhibition with Generation Z
MCM is currently holding an upcycling project exhibition that highlights experimental spirit by collaborating with talented Generation Z.
This MCM upcycling project exhibition is part of a project to nurture and support the talents of Generation Z students. Following previous collaborations with fashion societies and Hongik University, this time it is conducted with fashion design students from Keimyung University.
Under the title ‘UPCYCLING & CULTURE,’ this project utilized overstock products that are no longer sold in stores after a certain period, as well as leftover leather and fabrics, combined with the students’ creative ideas to create works with new value. Especially interesting is the reinterpretation of uniquely Korean everyday scenes such as ‘First Birthday Party,’ ‘Seoul Signboards,’ and ‘Grandmother’s Wardrobe’ through the eyes of Generation Z.
This MCM upcycling project exhibition can be viewed free of charge until mid-November at the MCM flagship store MCM HAUS located in Cheongdam-dong.
Meanwhile, in the 20FW season, MCM introduced eco-friendly Terrain Low sneakers made from organic cotton canvas, recycled rubber outsoles, and chrome-free natural leather, as well as an environmentally friendly underwear line pursuing sustainability throughout design, production, labeling, and packaging. More diverse developments from MCM are highly anticipated in the future.
