Programs Including Online Exhibitions and Donation Deliveries Tailored for the Untact Era
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Sampyo Group, a leading company in basic construction materials, is attracting attention by carrying out various non-face-to-face social contribution activities in line with the 'untact (non-face-to-face) era.'
Recently, as face-to-face social contribution activities became difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sampyo Group has been actively promoting non-face-to-face social contribution activities suitable for the untact era.
The environmental art education camp "Sampyo and Green (GREEN) Earth," which has been held annually for children and youth in educationally underserved areas, will be conducted in a non-face-to-face manner this year from the 26th of this month to the 13th of next month.
"Sampyo and Green (GREEN) Earth" plans to hold a youth photography contest online to raise awareness of the importance and value of nature, followed by an online exhibition after judging.
Earlier, from March 23 to April 10, a "Employee Blood Donation Relay Campaign" was conducted to help alleviate the national blood supply shortage caused by the prolonged COVID-19 situation. Instead of bringing blood donation vehicles to the company, employees visited nearby blood donation centers near their workplaces or residences to participate, and the blood donation certificates were donated to places in need.
In January, through the "Sampyo and Green Life Plus" program, a "Newborn Saving Hat Knitting Kit Delivery Ceremony" was held. Planned by the social contribution team, Sampyo and Green Life Plus is a participatory donation activity where employees knit wool hats themselves and send them to mothers and newborns in poor health and environmental conditions.
During the COVID-19 situation, this "hands-on" volunteer activity, which creates and delivers donation items that anyone can easily follow without spatial restrictions, increased employee participation opportunities.
The 104 wool hats completed with the dedication of employees were sent to Senegal, C?te d'Ivoire, and other countries through the international NGO Save the Children Korea in February.
In Africa, where there is a large temperature difference between day and night, putting wool hats on newborns with weak immunity can raise their body temperature by about 2℃, reducing deaths caused by hypothermia.
A Sampyo Group official said, "Although existing social contribution activities have become difficult due to COVID-19, we are exploring various CSR activities suited to the untact era," adding, "We will fulfill our corporate social responsibility through non-face-to-face social contribution programs that can provide practical help to marginalized neighbors."
