[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Go Min-jeong, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, took a jab at former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who said that key figures in the ruling party fear him, stating on the 22nd that "he is still trapped in illusions."
Go said in a post on her Facebook that day, "I once saw an interview where former candidate Oh Se-hoon said, after losing to me in the election, that it was a contest against President Moon Jae-in, not against Go Min-jeong," adding this comment.
Earlier, former Mayor Oh said at a lecture invited by Kim Moo-sung, former member of the United Future Party (predecessor of the People Power Party), titled "A Better Future," "I felt that the heavyweights of the Democratic Party feared me. I am the sure-win candidate who can win (the presidential election)."
Oh explained, "You must have seen the Democratic Party doing their best to defeat me in the last general election," adding, "Lee Geun-hyung, the Democratic Party's Strategic Planning Committee chairman, said right after the election that 'Oh Se-hoon was the most difficult candidate,' and heavyweights like Lee Nak-yeon, Im Jong-seok, and Lee In-young came to Gwangjin District several times. I truly felt that they feared me."
In response, Go criticized, "Losing to a political newcomer must have hurt his pride and been hard to accept," adding, "Since he has run in several elections, I expected a dignified acceptance of defeat, but that expectation was completely shattered."
She continued, "Though he is older and has more political experience, I dare to offer some advice," pointing out, "You spoke a lot about promising a political comeback, but authority is not something you build yourself; it is established by others."
