Soongsil Cyber University Department of Lifelong Education Counseling Donates Sangsaeng Masks to Local Children's Centers

The Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University (Department Head Yoon Hye-sun) donated Sangsaeng masks to local children's centers with the participation of faculty and students.


On the 19th, the Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University held a mask donation event for local children's centers in the conference room on the first floor of the Jongno Campus. Considering the COVID-19 situation, the number of attendees was minimized, with Department Head Yoon Hye-sun, Department Representative Lee Jung-soo (Class of 2019), and Ok Kyung-won, the representative of the Korea Local Children's Center Federation, attending the event.


The Sangsaeng mask campaign was planned by the Asia Human Rights and Culture Solidarity to support migrant workers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19. For each box of medical non-pharmaceutical spray masks approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety purchased, 5,000 KRW is set aside as a fund, and the proceeds from mask sales are used to support migrant workers.


Department Representative Lee Jung-soo opened a bank account with students to participate in the Sangsaeng mask campaign, and each donated funds to purchase the masks. The purchased masks were delivered to children through the Korea Local Children's Center Federation by the faculty and students of the Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University.


Department Head Yoon Hye-sun said, "In August, the faculty and students of the Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University decided to purchase Sangsaeng masks together and donate them to local children's centers. This time, we held a mask delivery event with the department representative and the representative of the Korea Local Children's Center Federation," adding, "We hope the donated masks will help prevent infections among the children."


Ok Kyung-won, representative of the Korea Local Children's Center Federation, expressed gratitude for the mask donation from the faculty and students of the Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University, stating, "It will be a great help to the children's daily lives during COVID-19."


The Department of Lifelong Education Counseling at Soongsil Cyber University operates a systematic curriculum aimed at training experts in education and counseling convergence, enabling students to simultaneously obtain national certifications such as Lifelong Educator, Youth Instructor, Youth Counselor, Vocational Counselor, as well as private certifications like After-school Child Instructor (Registered Private Certification 2013-2212) and Learning Coaching Instructor (Registered Private Certification 2014-0923).


Specialized courses include Youth Guidance Counseling, Career Coaching Counseling, Service Education Management, Church Education Expert, and Multicultural Society Expert programs, focusing on theory, practice, and employment linkage. All enrolled students receive one-on-one mentoring from senior students, and various career development relay special lectures are promoted, including emotional coaching, multiple intelligences and career, action learning, Havruta education, and after-school education. Academic advising is provided through faculty counseling on studies, careers, and scholarships. Many students obtain full tuition-free four-year degrees by combining national and university scholarships through scholarship counseling.


Students can complete the Department of Lifelong Education Counseling curriculum at Soongsil Cyber University entirely through 100% online classes and exams, earning a four-year bachelor's degree along with national and private certifications simultaneously. Additionally, through the lifelong free course program offered to current students and alumni at Soongsil Cyber University, students can take all courses, including those from other departments, for free during enrollment, and after graduation, they can take major courses free of charge for life.


Recruitment for new and transfer students for the first semester of 2021 at Soongsil Cyber University will begin on December 1, and applications can be submitted via PC and mobile devices. The Admissions Office will provide detailed recruitment guidelines through the Admissions Center website starting in November.
