[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Yesterday, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul increased by 20.
As of midnight on the 23rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 20 from the previous day, reaching a cumulative total of 5,768 cases.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul had remained below 20 since recording 20 cases on the 17th, with 14 on the 18th, 11 on the 19th, 17 on the 20th, and 18 on the 21st, but rose again to the 20s on the 22nd.
Among the new confirmed cases that day, 6 were classified as cluster infections, 1 was imported from overseas, 6 had contact with confirmed patients, and 7 were under investigation for their infection routes.
Regarding one of the major cluster infections related to acquaintances' gatherings in Gangnam and Seocho, 3 additional confirmed cases were reported in a single day. In Seocho-gu, after one resident was first confirmed positive on the 15th, 18 cases were confirmed by the 21st, and 6 more on the 22nd, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 25, of which 21 are confirmed cases in Seoul.
One more confirmed case was added related to the Samsos Porex swimming pool in Gwanak-gu. After two swimming pool users were first confirmed positive on the 20th, 8 cases were confirmed by the 21st, and 1 more on the 22nd, totaling 11 related cases, with 8 confirmed cases in Seoul.
Additionally, one confirmed case related to CJ Telenix (Jameon Medical Devices) in Gangnam-gu (cumulative 17 cases) and one confirmed case related to a funeral hall in Seodaemun-gu (cumulative 16 cases) were reported.
So far in Seoul, 5,304 people have been declared recovered and discharged, while 390 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
