"Cannot Avoid Special Prosecutor Investigation on Lime and Optimus"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, said on the 23rd regarding the possibility of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol entering politics, "He is a person with political neutrality who should keep a distance from politics while holding public office," adding, "Mentioning the possibility of politics distorts his purity. I think it is better not to ask such questions."
After the National Assembly inspection countermeasure meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Joo told reporters, "I am not pleased with the media talking about the Prosecutor General's (political) entry," expressing his view.
Regarding Yoon’s statement that "On the day of the search and seizure of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, then Minister of Justice Park Sang-ki asked if leniency could be possible," Joo said, "We will review with the legal team whether the inquiry made by Yoon constitutes a solicitation as defined under the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act."
On the Lime and Optimus special prosecution, Joo said, "The public knows that the Minister of Justice has effectively obstructed investigations in important cases," adding, "The special prosecution cannot be avoided. We are exploring various options, but ultimately, it can be enforced when public criticism intensifies, questioning what is feared to avoid the special prosecution. We ask for the public’s great interest and support."
