Hyundai Department Store Hosts Eco-Friendly Market 'Ji.Gu.Jang' at Peer

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Hyundai Department Store announced on the 23rd that it will hold a special exhibition with the theme of eco-friendliness called 'Ji.Gu.Jang (Market to Save the Earth)' at 'PEER,' a fashion select shop targeting the MZ generation (Millennials and Generation Z born after the 1980s). The event will be held sequentially starting at the Sinchon and Jungdong PEER stores (October 23 to November 12), followed by the Mokdong store (October 24 to November 1), and the Pangyo store (November 6 to November 12).

In particular, this event is co-planned by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. It will feature a new collection created in collaboration with PEER and famous artists, as well as over 200 'upcycling' products from 24 eco-friendly brands. Upcycling means creating new value by adding design to products that would otherwise be discarded, going beyond simple recycling.

The event includes upcycling brands such as 'Earth Shop,' which offers products made from eco-friendly materials instead of plastic; 'Overlap,' which makes bags using discarded parachutes; 'Blue of,' which upcycles PET bottles into nylon bags; vegan beauty brand 'Decant'; and '119 Leo,' which upcycles firefighters' discarded fireproof suits into bags.

Representative products include Earth Shop Overlap bags (37,900 KRW), Blue of bag pouch sets (49,000 KRW), Decant masks (19,000 KRW), and 119 Leo bags (50,000 KRW).

Additionally, during the event period, PEER stores will release 'The Camping' capsule collection, produced with participation from rapper 'Ready.' The capsule collection consists of 17 items, including fashion products such as anoraks, hoodies, and fleeces, as well as camping gear like chairs, sleeping bags, and lanterns.
