GS Retail Holds Concert Commemorating 'Dokdo Day'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail announced on the 23rd that it will hold a small concert themed "Sincerely, Looking at Dokdo" in front of the giant Dokdo art wall installed on the first floor of the GS Tower in Yeoksam-dong to commemorate Dokdo Day.

The concert will feature prominent performers representing their respective fields, including gayageum player Park Kyung-so, bassist Kim Sung-bae, and Persian percussionist Kim Min-seok.

Park Kyung-so will express the hearts of the Korean people who think of Dokdo, Korea's inherent territory, through the traditional instrument gayageum, while Kim Sung-bae and Kim Min-seok plan to convey the sound of the waves of the East Sea and the wind blowing on Dokdo through the tones of their instruments.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, GS Retail planned the concert without an audience, including not installing separate seating. The concert will be held for a total of one hour, divided into two parts (Part 1: 11:30 AM?12:00 PM, Part 2: 12:30 PM?1:00 PM). The concert video can be viewed via a live broadcast on GS25's official Instagram.

GS Retail expects that this concert, held under the theme "Sincerely, Looking at Dokdo," will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Dokdo, Korea's inherent territory, not with the head but with the heart.

Meanwhile, since the 12th, GS Retail has been conducting a campaign to promote Dokdo under the concept "Sincerely, Looking at Dokdo" in cooperation with the Public Communication Research Institute (Professor Lee Jong-hyuk) and photographer Kim Woo-il at over 15,000 stores nationwide, including a promotion giving away 15,000 Dokdo eco-bags and the installation of a giant Dokdo art wall.
