Special Exhibition "Mangwoojimul (忘憂之物)" at Jungnang Art Center until November 22... Display of Manguri Park History and Various Historical Materials Including Notable Figures Resting at Manguri Park
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has prepared a special exhibition themed around Manguri Park.
The district is holding the 'Mangujimul (忘憂之物)' special exhibition at Jungnang Art Center until November 22.
Manguri Park is a representative park of Jungnang-gu, visited by many residents for its dense forest and walking trails. It is the resting place of about 60 prominent figures from modern and contemporary times, including Manhae Han Yong-un, Pastor Park Hee-do, and Wi-chang Oh Se-chang.
'Mangujimul (忘憂之物)' is an exhibition introducing various historical materials that allow visitors to reflect on the history of the space unique to Manguri Park and the lives and achievements of the great figures resting there. It also provides an opportunity for cultural activities to residents who find it difficult to visit exhibitions due to COVID-19, while promoting the historical excellence of Manguri Park, making it a win-win opportunity.
In particular, materials related to the great figures resting in Manguri Park, such as the Republic of Korea Medal of Merit Certificate for Independence Movement (replica from Cheonan City Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Hall) and the Japanese surveillance target person card (replica from the National Institute of Korean History), are also exhibited, offering a chance to re-examine Korea's modern and contemporary history.
Moreover, for residents who find it difficult to go out due to COVID-19, a virtual reality (VR) online exhibition hall has been prepared to allow online viewing of the exhibition.
In the online exhibition hall, visitors can view the works as if they were in the actual exhibition room, and selecting historical materials provides brief explanations.
This exhibition, held free of charge at the Jungnang Art Center's 1st Exhibition Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Mondays, operates on a reservation system to prevent COVID-19 infections among residents.
Residents wishing to visit can make a reservation by phone at Jungnang Art Center before their visit.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "This exhibition is significant as it allows people to view historical materials about Manguri Park and the great figures resting there all at once," and added, "I hope this will be a time to widely promote the historical value of Manguri Park."
