[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The Changwon National University Human Rights Center held the 'Changdaehan Human Rights Forum' at the Sarim Hall of Changwon National University under the theme 'Current Issues and Tasks of University Education and Human Rights in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)'.

The 'Changdaehan Human Rights Forum,' now in its second year, was held with support from the National University Development Project.

Amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation, with the rapid changes in university education environments such as the expansion of remote classes and non-face-to-face communication methods, the forum was organized to diagnose human rights issues and enhance human rights sensitivity.

This event served as an opportunity not only to create a human rights-friendly university environment but also to build a community network in the local society and revitalize the local community through exchanges with regional human rights-related organizations.

The forum featured keynote presentations, comprehensive discussions, and Q&A sessions with domestic human rights experts, including former Changwon National University President Kim Hyun-tae as the chair, Kim Jung-seop, an authority on the Hyungpyeongsa Movement research in the Jinju area and emeritus professor of sociology at Gyeongsang National University, and Hong Sung-soo, a human rights expert and professor of law at Sookmyung Women's University, author of the bestseller "When Words Become Swords," which deals with issues of hate and discrimination.

Lee Jang-hee, director of the Changwon National University Human Rights Center, explained, “The Changwon National University Human Rights Center has a vision to foster a human rights-friendly university culture through fair handling of human rights violation cases on campus, active human rights education, and human rights events, and furthermore, to nurture talent with high human rights sensitivity as the leading human rights university in Gyeongnam.”
