Trump Launches Fierce Attack in First Public Endorsement Rally
"Left Pandemic Response Plans, But Seems Used to Prop Up Desk"
Trump Campaigns in North Carolina
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min, Reporter Naju-seok] "Let's try once again, the remaining 13 days will determine the next several decades."
On the 21st (local time), former U.S. President Barack Obama took the stage at a campaign rally set up on a highway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of the key battleground states. Drivers in their cars honked their horns in unison to listen to his speech. In response, Obama raised his voice urging early voting for Democratic candidate Joe Biden to oust President Donald Trump.
This was Obama’s first on-site campaign rally since endorsing Biden. Especially with the final presidential debate just a day away, he did not hold back on aggressive remarks against President Trump.

He sharply criticized, "We left a plan for responding to the pandemic in the White House, but they probably used it to prop up a wobbly table."
Obama also warned against the Trump administration’s attempts to dismantle his achievement, the nationwide healthcare program known as 'Obamacare.' He asked, "It’s shameful. What kind of logic is there in removing healthcare services at the moment people need them most?"
He attacked the economic record that President Trump claims as an achievement. Obama stated, "By obstructing the COVID-19 response, the economic damage he (Trump) has caused means he will be the first president since Herbert Hoover to lose jobs during his term."
Obama shouted, "If a leader lies every day and just scolds, our democracy will be ineffective," adding, "Integrity, democracy, citizenship, and accountability are not Republican or Democratic principles?they are American principles. We must reclaim them."
Recalling his defeat to Trump in the 2016 election despite being confident of victory, Obama emphasized not to be complacent with current polls showing Biden ahead. He said, "We must achieve a result never seen before. I don’t care about the polls."
The political media outlet The Hill evaluated Obama’s speech that day as an attempt to tighten the noose around President Trump. Contrary to expectations, Biden did not join the rally. Biden has been focusing solely on preparing for the TV debate scheduled for the next day and has refrained from campaigning this week, staying out of the public eye.
President Trump held a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, a battleground state. There, Trump warned, "If Biden wins, protesters burning American flags in the streets will run the federal government," adding, "They will teach your children to become rioters, and gangs will roam the streets without masks."
Trump also made remarks on COVID-19, the media, and China. He mentioned, "If Biden wins, China will own America."
North Carolina is a crucial battleground state where both President Trump and candidate Biden are fighting fiercely. According to polls, Biden’s support rate is about 2 to 3 percentage points ahead of Trump.
