Establishment of a Digital Innovation Organization Directly Under the Chairman Composed of Practical Staff from the Group's Digital Division
Chairman Sohn Tae-seung Urges the Red Team's Objective and Cool Perspective for Group Digital Innovation
Woori Financial Group established a digital innovation organization called the 'Red Team,' composed of key group companies' digital and IT department practitioners, on the 21st of this month and held an inauguration ceremony. [Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Financial Group announced on the 22nd that it has established a digital innovation organization called the "Red Team," composed of practical personnel from the digital and IT departments of major group companies. The Red Team commenced its activities by attending the Group Digital Innovation Subcommittee meeting on the day of its launch ceremony.
At the launch ceremony, Woori Financial Chairman Sohn Tae-seung stated, "Correct decisions are generated from the clash of opposing opinions, and what we need is not consensus but dissent," emphasizing, "Proposals approved unanimously should be reviewed again after sufficient time." Chairman Sohn also urged, "Please consider eliminating errors from opposing perspectives in response to the one-way organizational logic and support optimal decision-making."
The Digital Innovation Red Team was selected from deputy general managers and managers with proven excellent skills and practical experience in the digital and IT departments of Woori Financial Holdings, Woori Bank, Woori Card, and Woori FIS.
The Red Team will regularly express its opinions on major agenda items of the weekly Digital Innovation Subcommittee and will also play a role in directly delivering vivid opinions from the perspective of practical personnel on key issues in the group’s digital division, rather than refined reports.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Chairman Sohn, Woori Financial recently relocated the digital departments of each group company to the Woori Financial Digital Tower and established a digital office, solidifying its position as the group’s digital control tower. It is said that the relocation of the office to the Woori Financial Digital Tower was possible due to Chairman Sohn’s strong will for "digital innovation." Having repeatedly mentioned at various internal and external official events that "digital innovation is now a matter of survival," Chairman Sohn is now preparing to lead the "normalization of innovation," not innovation for the sake of innovation.
