Pre-entrepreneurs and Early Startups Successfully Complete Week 1 of the '2020 Sogang Startup Survival'

The '2020 Sogang Startup Survival,' a Campus Town project for startup companies jointly conducted by Sogang University Startup Support Group, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Mapo District Office, was held over two days on October 13 and 16 using the video conferencing platform ZOOM.

The target participants of the '2020 Sogang Startup Survival' were prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs. Both lectures and mentoring sessions were conducted interactively, with attendees and instructors communicating directly by accessing the assigned ZOOM classroom links at the scheduled times.

The lecture on October 13 (Tuesday) began with , delivered by CEO Seunghyun Kim of 300PARTNERS Co., Ltd. and adjunct professor at Yonsei University. The lecture aimed to reduce failures in early startups and promote early settlement of ventures. It covered the basics of pitching and analyzed real pitching cases thoroughly, followed by practical assignments to enable immediate application of the lecture content.

On October 16 (Friday), in-depth individual mentoring sessions were held, with each team receiving 40 minutes of one-on-one mentoring. After completing mentoring from weeks 1 to 4, participants will receive immediate feedback from an investor’s perspective through a pitching clinic before participating in the IR pitching competition held on December 4 (Friday), helping to concretize their business ideas.

Early-stage entrepreneurs who participated in the program shared, “It was a very beneficial time to learn in detail about the basic framework and guidelines of pitching,” and participants gave positive feedback such as “The best lecture tailored to the level of prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs,” “This is the first time I have experienced such an intensive startup lecture,” and “I really look forward to the upcoming lectures.”

A representative from the Sogang Business Center, which operates the program, stated, “This Startup Survival education was designed with a curriculum focused on investment attraction. Since investment is the most essential part at the prospective/early startup stage, we are confident that this will be a great opportunity for participants.”

Meanwhile, the '2020 Sogang Startup Survival' will culminate in an 'IR Pitching Competition,' which can be used as a future investment acquisition strategy. Participants who attend more than 80% of the program will receive a certificate of completion and souvenirs signed by the head of the Startup Support Group, and outstanding teams in the IR pitching competition will be awarded certificates and prize money.
