KT to Start Pre-Orders for iPhone 12 from the 23rd

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT will start pre-orders for Apple's new smartphones, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, at all KT stores nationwide and the official online mall KT Shop from the 23rd, with the official launch on the 30th. Pre-orders on KT Shop will be available from 00:01 on the 23rd.

The iPhone 12 prices are 1,078,000 KRW for the 64GB model, 1,155,000 KRW for the 128GB model, and 1,287,000 KRW for the 256GB model. The iPhone 12 Pro prices are 1,342,000 KRW for the 128GB model, 1,474,000 KRW for the 256GB model, and 1,738,000 KRW for the 512GB model. All prices include VAT.

According to KT on the 22nd, KT will introduce the ‘Super Change’ program to reduce the purchase burden. If customers use the iPhone 12 for 24 months and then upgrade to the latest iPhone series, they can return their used iPhone 12 and receive compensation of up to 50% of the original purchase price. Using affiliated credit cards further reduces the burden. When using the ‘Super DC2 Hyundai Card,’ customers can get a total discount of 720,000 KRW on communication fees over 24 months, receiving 30,000 KRW off monthly (with a monthly spending of over 1,000,000 KRW and automatic payment of communication fees).

In partnership with Apple, KT will also launch the ‘KT AppleCare Pack.’ This special KT-exclusive service provides AppleCare service and 50GB of iCloud storage monthly. It offers the same benefits as AppleCare operated by Apple, allowing repairs or replacement devices with a deductible of 40,000 KRW for screen damage and 120,000 KRW for other damages. Notably, the KT AppleCare Pack charges monthly fees, reducing the initial cost compared to the lump-sum payment method of AppleCare. Detailed information about the KT AppleCare Pack will be released alongside the iPhone 12 launch.

KT’s ‘Super Plan Choice’ tariff, which offers unlimited 5G data and 5G content, provides up to a 50% discount on monthly fees when applying a 25% selection discount and a 25% premium family bundle discount. For consumers purchasing the iPhone 12 unlocked, KT has expanded convenience for device insurance enrollment. Previously, customers had to visit stores or call dedicated insurance centers and submit complicated documents such as proof of purchase to enroll in insurance for unlocked devices. Now, unlocked iPhone 12 buyers can instantly enroll with a ‘one-click’ process via the MyKT app or website. An Apple App Store billing discount promotion is also underway, offering up to 10,000 KRW off when purchasing paid apps or in-app paid content. To receive this benefit, customers must apply through KT.com between the 30th and December 31st.

Existing KT subscribers can easily pre-order the iPhone 12 through KT Shop’s ‘1-Minute Order Reservation.’ Additionally, among KT Shop pre-order customers in the metropolitan area and five major metropolitan cities, the first 1,200 will receive their iPhone 12 via ‘1-Hour Delivery’ on the morning of the 30th. The premium care service ‘Yeogioji,’ where KT consultants visit the customer’s desired location, is also available. Yeogioji provides various services safely and conveniently, including used phone trade-in, data backup, screen protector application, and KT product consulting. Among 500 customers who pre-order and activate through KT Shop, prizes such as Apple Watch 6, iPad 8, AirPods, and 2021 Starbucks diaries will be awarded by lottery. All customers who activate through KT Shop will receive KT Shop exclusive goods such as the ‘Picnic UV Charger,’ Raon character 3-in-1 wireless charging pad, Belkin Bluetooth wireless earphones, Belkin fast USB-C charger with Lightning cable set, or a DesignsSkin transparent bumper case and screen protector.
