Signing of National R&D Agreement for Spatial Information-Based Immersive Tourism Content Creation and Service Technology Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] The signing ceremony for the national research and development agreement on "Spatial Information-Based Immersive Tourism Content Authoring and Service Technology," involving the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement, the Immersive Tourism Content Research Group, Jeonju University, Jeonbuk Provincial Government, and Jeonju City Hall, was held on the 21st at Jeonju University's Regional Innovation Hall.


The Spatial Information-Based Immersive Tourism Content Authoring and Service Technology project is a three-year initiative starting this year with a total budget of 3.17 billion KRW. It aims to develop technology that provides content applicable to the domestic cultural tourism industry based on highly precise and large-scale national spatial information.



The project focuses on developing tourism digital twin technology to activate smart tourism and support tourism decision-making, immersive tourism content authoring technology, and service technology. Using these technologies, the project will implement demonstrations through pilot content and services.


Attendees at the agreement signing ceremony included Kwon Hee-sang (Director of Urban Architecture, Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement), Choi In-gu (Head of Autonomous Cooperative Driving Research Group, Korea Expressway Corporation), Song Gwang-in (Principal Research Professor, Jeonju University), Yoon Yeo-il (Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Jeollabuk-do), and Choi Rak-gi (Director of Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, Jeonju City), among other officials from each institution.


Professor Song Gwang-in, Principal Research Professor at Jeonju University, stated, "Through the signing of this national research and development MOU, we hope that each institution will cooperate organically to successfully carry out this project and contribute to the qualitative improvement and revitalization of tourism in Hanok Village and Jeollabuk-do."
