Opening of the ‘Songpa Social Economy Market’ Last Year's Event Opening Ceremony

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will hold the Songpa Social Economy Market, "Songsajang," to support the sales channels of social economy enterprises struggling due to COVID-19.

"Songsajang" is an abbreviation for Songpa Social Economy Market. It will be held from the 23rd to the 24th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., near the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park. The event was organized to help social economy enterprises overcome management difficulties caused by decreased sales due to COVID-19.

Nineteen companies, including social enterprises and cooperatives, will participate in the market, selling upcycled flowerpots, accessories, handicrafts, and fair trade products. Additionally, companies from other districts such as Gangdong-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, and Gwanak-gu will be invited to participate to promote mutual exchange and cooperation among enterprises and revitalize the social economy.

The district office will ensure thorough compliance with step-by-step quarantine rules such as venue disinfection, mandatory QR code entry logs, and social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They also plan to actively utilize non-face-to-face promotional methods such as live broadcasts from sales booths.

Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu said, "This market is an opportunity to widely promote social economy enterprises that practice the values of coexistence and sharing," and added, "We hope many residents participate to help revitalize social economy enterprises and the local economy, which are struggling due to COVID-19."

Furthermore, the district opened a joint sales center for social economy enterprises (246 Munjeong-ro) on November 19 last year, taking the lead in creating social value. Thirteen companies, including social enterprises, village enterprises, cooperatives, and self-support enterprises, participate, selling 49 types of products such as handmade soap, air fresheners, embroidered eco-bags, natural cosmetics, and tea sets.
