[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Members of a conservative group who mocked Professor Jeong Gyeong-sim of Dongyang University, the wife of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, while she was attending court have been handed over to the prosecution.

On the 20th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that five individuals suspected of insult were sent to the prosecution without detention with a recommendation for indictment last month. One person whose identity has not been confirmed was sent with a recommendation to suspend prosecution.

They reportedly stood nearby several times on June 18, shouting "parasite" and other severe insults as Professor Jeong entered and exited the court, and imitated her wearing an eye patch due to an injury to one eye. Professor Jeong’s side filed a complaint regarding this behavior.

At the time, the law firm Dasan, which represented Professor Jeong, stated, "Their actions constitute a serious insult to Professor Jeong and a human rights violation mocking and disparaging the disability of one eye that she has had since a major accident long ago."

In relation to this, former Minister Cho posted on his social network service (SNS) requesting information about the man who was sent to the prosecution with a recommendation to suspend prosecution. Cho said, "One man’s identity has not been identified, so he was sent to the prosecution with a recommendation to suspend prosecution," adding, "If anyone knows the man below, who is presumed to be associated with far-right groups, please provide information."
