[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam Province, has decided to accelerate the completion of major projects in four areas?administration, roads, transportation, parks, and sports?by the end of the year, aiming to become the "Best Seongsan-gu to Live In."

A total of 19 billion KRW is expected to be spent on these projects. Out of 274 projects in total, 222 have been completed so far, achieving a progress rate of 81%. Seongsan-gu plans to complete the remaining 52 projects without any setbacks by the end of the year.

First, in the administrative sector, the annex building expansion project of the district office is targeted for completion in December.

Following the integration of Changwon City in 2010, the annex expansion project within the office building began in February last year. The annex, with a total floor area of 2,526㎡, consists of one basement floor and four above-ground floors. It will house offices for five departments, meeting rooms, document storage, and other support facilities, while the first floor will be constructed as a parking area to expand the currently insufficient parking space within the office building.

In the road sector, expansion and opening works are currently underway. A project with a budget of 1 billion KRW is being invested to complete a road 192 meters long and 6 to 8 meters wide behind Seongjusa Station in Anmin-dong by the end of this year. Another project, with a budget of 8 billion KRW, is underway to open a road 972 meters long and 6 to 8 meters wide in the Gwisandong area, with the first phase of construction also scheduled for completion within this year.

In the transportation facilities sector, a project called the "Ungnam Industrial Complex Cargo Truck Public Parking Lot Construction Project," which involves creating a cargo truck parking lot with about 80 spaces in the Ungnam Industrial Complex area, is in progress with a budget of 3 billion KRW. The detailed design service was completed this month, and compensation for obstacles and preparation of the implementation plan will continue until the first half of next year.

Finally, improvement projects in the park and sports sectors will be carried out. With a total budget of 1.1 billion KRW, the projects include replacing artificial turf at four tennis courts within parks, replacing the grass on the foot volleyball court and mesh fence of the tennis court at Seongju Residents’ Sports Ground, and repairing the floor of the soccer field and installing a jogging track at Daebang Sports Park.

Oh Seong-taek, head of Seongsan-gu Office, said, “We will do our best to ensure that the major projects targeted for this year are completed smoothly without any setbacks.”
