[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Seoul dropped to 11 yesterday.
As of midnight on the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 11 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to 5,713.
The number of new cases on this day is the lowest in 18 days since the 11 cases reported on the 1st. The number of confirmed cases in Seoul has been on a decreasing trend, from 20 on the 17th, to 14 on the 18th, and 11 on the 19th.
Among the new confirmed cases, a cluster infection was identified from the 'Gangnam·Seocho acquaintance gathering,' with a total of 10 confirmed cases including 9 residents of Seoul. After one Seocho-gu resident was first confirmed on the 15th, five acquaintances and family members who attended the same gathering were confirmed by the 18th, and four more attendees from another gathering on the 19th were additionally confirmed.
The health authorities are currently testing 65 people, including all attendees of the gatherings, their families, and acquaintances. Epidemiological investigations revealed that the initial confirmed case and acquaintances traveled together, and subsequent additional infections occurred through meetings with other acquaintances at places such as coffee shops and billiard halls.
Other new confirmed cases include 2 who had contact with confirmed cases from other cities or provinces, and 5 others related to past cluster infections or sporadic cases.
So far in Seoul, 5,217 people have been declared recovered and discharged, while 427 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
