[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education launched the 'Gyeonggi Education Integrity Society Public-Private Council' on the 19th to improve integrity and spread an integrity culture.
This public-private council specialized in the education sector is the first among provincial and metropolitan offices of education nationwide.
The council includes 14 institutions and organizations within the province, such as related agencies, civic groups, and parent organizations.
From October this year, the representative members from each institution will carry out activities for two years, including ▲ promoting the 'Integrity Society Agreement' for corruption prevention among participating institutions ▲ proposing and collecting opinions on anti-corruption policies of the Provincial Office of Education ▲ discussing matters for integrity education, publicity, and awareness improvement.
On the 19th, the council held its first meeting at the Suwon Southern Office building, pledging to improve integrity and spread an integrity culture, signing the Integrity Society Agreement, and agreeing to actively cooperate in creating a fair and transparent Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
They also agreed to work on preventing improper solicitations, acceptance of money or entertainment, abuse of power, recruitment corruption, and to promote the protection system for whistleblowers.
Lee Jae-jung, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, "Integrity requires active efforts beyond living purely and honestly to make our society valuable and just," and urged, "Let us work together in the public-private council to transform into a clean and fair society and take the lead in realizing integrity in Gyeonggi education."
