Amore Eldest Daughter Seo Min-jung Quietly Marries Bokwang Investment's Eldest Son


[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Minjeong, the eldest daughter of Seo Kyung-bae, chairman of Amorepacific, and Jeonghwan, the eldest son of Hong Seok-jun, chairman of Bogwang Venture Investment, held a quiet wedding ceremony on the 19th attended only by family members.


The wedding ceremony, held at 6 p.m. at the Shilla Hotel Yeongbingwan in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, was conducted privately with about 46 attendees including immediate family members and friends from both sides. The bride, Minjeong, arrived at the venue around 3:30 p.m. wearing a pure white wedding dress and a white mask, and Chairman Seo, the host, entered about 10 minutes earlier. Other business figures such as the Samsung family did not attend.


The two, who met through an introduction by an acquaintance, revealed their relationship through media reports in April and held their engagement ceremony on June 27.


At the engagement ceremony, Samsung family figures such as Hong Ra-hee, former director of the Leeum Museum and wife of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, Lee Boo-jin, president of Hotel Shilla, and Lee Seo-hyun, chairwoman of the Samsung Welfare Foundation, attended. Also present were Hong Jung-do, eldest son of former JoongAng Ilbo chairman Hong Seok-hyun and president of JoongAng Ilbo and JTBC, Hong Seok-jo, chairman of BGF Group, and Hong Seok-gyu, chairman of Bogwang Group. Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, Lee Boo-jin, and Lee Seo-hyun are third cousins of the groom, Jeonghwan.


Born in 1991, Minjeong graduated from Cornell University with a degree in economics. After working at the global consulting firm Bain & Company, she joined Amorepacific as an employee in 2017, left in June of the same year, completed an MBA program at China’s Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, and rejoined Amorepacific in October last year. She is currently working as a manager in the Beauty Sales Strategy Team of the Beauty Sales Unit, a domestic cosmetics channel organization.


Born in 1985, Hong Jeonghwan is the eldest son among one son and one daughter of Hong Seok-jun, chairman of Bogwang Venture Investment, and oversees investment screening at Bogwang Venture Investment. He holds shares related to the Bogwang Group, including 0.52% of the holding company BGF and 1.56% of BGF Retail.
