'Unanswered Truths' Investigates Late Yoon Sang-yeop's Drowning Incident in Gapyeong Valley
Yoon's Sister: "We Want to Know the Truth About the Case"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Following the SBS program "Unanswered Questions" broadcast, suspicions surrounding the drowning accident of the late Yoon Sang-yeop have been growing, and Yoon's sister has posted a national petition urging a thorough investigation. She expressed that she has been going through a difficult time since Yoon's accident and appealed that the National Pension is currently being received by his spouse, Ms. Lee.
The petitioner, Yoon Mo, who identified herself as Yoon's sister, posted a message titled "Please reveal the truth about the drowning incident in Gapyeong on June 30, 2019" on the Blue House National Petition board on the 19th. This petition is expected to be made public after receiving prior consent from more than 100 people and review by the administrator.
Sister Yoon said, "Since June 30, 2019, when the accident occurred, our family has been going through a difficult time. It was such a sudden death that it is still hard to face my younger brother," adding, "Our parents, who lost their child, must be even more devastated. After sending my brother off, we feared something might happen to our parents as well. Every day has been filled with pain and despair."
She continued, "After my brother's death, there were many very strange circumstances, so I tried my best to collect as much information as possible, but there were limitations due to the existence of Ms. Lee, the legal spouse, and Ms. Lee's biological daughter, who was adopted as a stepchild. Their marriage seemed somewhat difficult, but I never imagined it would be to this extent."
She lamented, "Although my brother worked diligently for 15 years, he left behind a lot of debt under his name without a single balance, and reportedly, there was no severance pay either," adding, "Most of that debt has now been settled through limited approval, and the National Pension is currently being received by his spouse, Ms. Lee."
Yoon also said, "My brother was love, but I think Ms. Lee was a relationship with a purpose," and added, "My brother probably knew this too, but it breaks my heart why he couldn't get out of it sooner."
In conclusion, she said, "Four seasons have already passed since I sent my brother off," and "Now I want to know the truth. What are they hiding? Am I really thinking correctly? I ask for help so that the truth can be revealed and my brother, who died unjustly, can finally rest in peace."
Earlier, the SBS program "Unanswered Questions - The Last Dive of That Day, the Gapyeong Valley Mystery," aired on the 17th, covered the drowning accident of Yoon at Yongso Waterfall in Gapyeong last June.
According to the broadcast, Yoon drowned while visiting Yongso Waterfall in Gapyeong with acquaintances last June. Yoon's wife, Ms. Lee, informed the production team of the accident and said she was in a dispute with the insurance company over her husband's death insurance payout.
However, Yoon's family said they cannot dismiss suspicions about Ms. Lee due to events that occurred after Yoon's death. It was reported that Ms. Lee engaged in hard-to-understand behavior, such as enjoying water leisure activities and traveling abroad with her daughter and friends less than 100 days after Yoon's death.
