[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has opened and is operating the ‘New Job Exploration Midlife Career Creation Academy’ to support reemployment and entrepreneurship for middle-aged and older adults preparing for their second life.
This Career Creation Academy is designed for middle-aged and older adults to establish a foundation for a second life leap through new job exploration and digital competency enhancement. It aims to help create new jobs by fostering understanding of career creation and changing perceptions of jobs and career paths in the employment market, which has been struggling due to COVID-19.
The curriculum is divided into basic and practical courses, themed ‘Establishing an Innovative Foundation for a Second Life Leap through Career Creation,’ and includes tailored lectures that can be immediately applied in practice, such as ▲Exploring new jobs suitable for middle-aged and older adults ▲Understanding career creation and analyzing career creation cases ▲Enhancing digital competencies ▲Practical training and mentoring for concretizing new jobs.
Additionally, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all courses will be conducted online. To improve educational efficiency, one-on-one non-face-to-face consulting with professional mentors will be provided, focusing on presenting concrete directions for successful career creation.
The education will be held from November 2 to 27, consisting of 12 sessions conducted as real-time non-face-to-face lectures using the online education platform Zoom. Middle-aged and older adults aged 40 and above who wish to enroll can download the application form from the Korea Career Creation Association website and submit it via email to the person in charge (newjob123@naver.com).
The number of participants is limited to 25, and the tuition fee is free. For more details, please contact the Korea Career Creation Association.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “This education was prepared to establish a foundation for career creation and enhance digital competencies in preparation for the 4th Industrial Revolution and the post-COVID-19 era,” adding, “I hope middle-aged and older adults find their lifelong jobs based on their long experience and wisdom through the Career Creation Academy.”
