Online Eunpyeong-gil Trekking Event Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) and the Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council (Chairman Park Nak-heung), together with the Eunpyeong-gu Walking Association (Chairman Kim In-yong), will hold a non-face-to-face walking event called the ‘Online Eunpyeong-gil Trekking’ in response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Held over 10 days from October 14 to 23, this event allows participants to freely walk 5km anywhere within Eunpyeong-gu using free walking and running apps, encouraging residents who have experienced restrictions on outdoor activities due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing to feel a sense of accomplishment and freedom.

After the event period, participants can submit screenshots of their app activity records and a brief comment on the Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council website by October 30 to receive a completion certificate. The first 200 participants will receive Onnuri gift certificates and quarantine supplies.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, “We will continue to organize lifestyle sports events that are unaffected by the spread of COVID-19 for the residents of Eunpyeong-gu, providing opportunities to boost immunity through physical activity and to uplift spirits that have been dampened by the pandemic.”

For information on how to participate and other details about the event, please check the official Eunpyeong-gu SNS and the Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council website.
