[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Security specialist ADT Caps has recently launched a series of new services based on ICT technology and expanded its security business area from traditional physical security-centered services (Security) to lifestyle safety care services (Safety+Care).
Since merging with SK Telecom in October 2018, ADT Caps has expanded the home security market that alleviates concerns about home intrusion crimes through cooperation with SK Telecom, introducing the ‘Caps Home’ service and the IoT integrated service for apartment complexes ‘Caps Smart Village.’ It has also gained attention by launching comprehensive parking solutions for the 5G era such as ‘T map Parking.’
Additionally, this year, in response to the non-face-to-face environment, ADT Caps has further advanced access security services and incorporated key ICT technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), DT (Digital Transformation), cloud, mobility, and 5G into security services to secure competitiveness, unveiling numerous new services.
Proactive Response to Changing Environment: Non-Face-to-Face Security Services
As COVID-19 prolongs, ‘untact services’ are gaining popularity. Recently, due to concerns about virus infection, consumers have increasingly used online shopping malls instead of offline stores, and services with many customer touchpoints are shifting to non-face-to-face formats. As a cautious atmosphere spreads throughout society to avoid contact with others and refrain from outdoor activities, ADT Caps has strengthened its non-face-to-face security services.
ADT Caps AI Face Recognition-Based Access Security Service
In July, ADT Caps launched the walkthrough-type access security solution ‘Caps Smart Walk-in.’ When a face is shown to the terminal, identity and temperature are displayed within 1-2 seconds, and the gate opens. It features fast and convenient access without the user having to stop walking or present an access card or fingerprint. Applying deep learning AI, it can recognize faces wearing masks as well as side faces within 30 degrees up, down, left, and right. Additionally, the access security solution ‘Caps Smart Check,’ which allows easy face recognition and temperature check, was also launched.
ADT Caps ‘Caps Mobile Access Card’
ADT Caps’ ‘Caps Mobile Access Card’ is a smartphone-based access authentication service. It added an ‘automatic wake-up’ function that allows mobile access authentication simply by bringing the smartphone near the reader without the user operating the app. Also, to accommodate changing work environments such as flexible working hours, it added a ‘mobile attendance service’ function that allows users to record clock-in and clock-out via the app, enhancing user convenience.
ADT Caps ‘Early Morning Delivery Unmanned Security Service’
The early morning delivery unmanned security service was prepared to strengthen security and minimize security gaps for businesses receiving food ingredients and logistics deliveries early in the morning, such as restaurants. It added an automatic security mode switching function to the existing unmanned security system, which switches to security mode after a certain time even if the security mode is not activated upon exit. It allows issuing delivery driver-exclusive cards, and a mobile card will be launched in the second half of the year.
Security Service Upgrades Based on New ICT Technologies
ADT Caps is striving to further advance its existing physical security business and provide upgraded services for customer convenience based on New ICT technologies such as AI, blockchain, and mobility in cooperation with SK Telecom.
ViewGuard Mobile App ‘AI-Based Voice Recognition Search’ Function
Caps ViewGuard is a video security solution utilizing ADT Caps’ high-performance CCTV, enabling real-time monitoring linked with a smartphone application. ADT Caps applied SK Telecom’s AI NUGU-based voice recognition search function within the Caps ViewGuard app, allowing easy device control by voice command alone. Pressing the voice recognition button or saying ‘Aria’ activates voice recognition, enabling users to view recorded footage corresponding to the desired time. In the future, ADT Caps plans to introduce FIDO (Fast Identity Online) technology, which authenticates based on biometric information, to further enhance the security and convenience of the Caps ViewGuard app.
Blockchain DID-Based ‘Mobile Access Card’
In cooperation with SKT, ADT Caps introduced a ‘Mobile Access Card’ applying blockchain-based DID technology to mobile devices. After downloading the mobile access card app, tagging the smartphone on the reader allows identity verification via NFC (Android) / BLE (iOS) communication without the need for a physical card. Management is also possible via the app, enabling easy assignment of authorization functions, access history inquiry, and unmanned security management. It provides an optimized security environment for individual business sites such as companies, factories, financial institutions, SOHO stores, and schools where student IDs are used to access libraries and dormitories.
‘Patrol Service Using Autonomous Flight Drones’
The autonomous flight drone patrol service introduced by ADT Caps is an unmanned security solution where drones autonomously take off, land, and charge at stations, patrol designated areas, and collect data. Without pilot personnel, the drones autonomously capture and analyze video, and in case of anomaly detection, they send emergency signals linked with CCTV and request dispatch, functioning as an integrated control system. ADT Caps plans to build various drone services from small drones to autonomous flight drones and apply them considering customer business site types and security situations.
Expansion into New Business Areas
Based on New ICT technologies, ADT Caps is introducing new lifestyle safety care services that go beyond traditional physical security to enhance daily safety and quality of life, expanding support into residential environments, parking, medical, and senior care sectors.
[Home Security] ‘Caps Home’ & ‘Caps Smart Village’
ADT Caps’ home security service ‘Caps Home’ consists of a Full HD camera attached to the front door and an SOS emergency button that can request help 24/7. Users can receive real-time alerts of loiterers and visitors at the front door via the app and check the front door video anytime, anywhere. The device can emit warning sounds and enable two-way communication, useful for deliveries and visits.
Additionally, ‘Caps Smart Village,’ specialized for apartment complexes, was introduced in cooperation with SK Telecom. It is an IoT integrated service that cares for residents’ convenience with smart home functions essential for apartment environments as well as security. Requests for dispatch and patrol within the complex, enhanced security during absence, visitor vehicle reservations, and community reservations, which previously required visiting the management office, can now be easily applied for via a dedicated app.
[Remote Work] ‘Caps Office Home’ Combining Attendance Management, Groupware, and Information Security
With the spread of flexible work systems due to COVID-19, ADT Caps launched the remote work-tailored package ‘Caps Office Home.’ It consists of ‘Caps PC-OFF,’ which integrally manages online and offline attendance based on remote control; ‘Caps Groupware,’ which enables work and communication without spatial and temporal constraints even from outside; and ‘Caps Cyber Guard,’ an information security program that prevents data leakage and malware.
[Information Security] ‘Cyber Guard Professional’ and Integrated Converged Security Control Service
Cyber Guard Professional is the first information security service jointly developed by ADT Caps and SK Infosec. It offers detailed packages allowing design tailored to each business operator’s characteristics and is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 150 employees that find it difficult to build information security systems and hire experts. It provides an integrated information security solution including ‘Information Asset Protection’ that blocks personal information protection and critical data leakage, ‘Service Asset Protection’ that detects and blocks malware and hacking targeting web and servers, and ‘Professional Consulting’ offering security level diagnosis and consulting.
[Mobility] 5G Era Parking Solution ‘T map Parking’ & Corporate Vehicle Operation Management ‘Caps Smart Mobility’
T map Parking, jointly launched by ADT Caps and SK Telecom, is a parking solution that provides one-stop services from real-time parking space confirmation to payment, integrated control, and on-site dispatch. Drivers can check parking lots near their destination, get route guidance, purchase parking tickets, and use various payment functions including pre-settlement. Business owners can integrate parking lot management and security control for operation. Additionally, ADT Caps introduced ‘Caps Parking Safety Plus’ as an additional service for business owners using T map Parking. It is a practical compensation service covering business owners’ liability as well as various damages occurring in parking lots such as fire and movable property damage.
ADT Caps newly launched ‘Caps Smart Mobility,’ a vehicle management specialized solution that helps corporate operators manage shared vehicles more efficiently. It provides real-time vehicle location and route monitoring, driving record inquiry and creation services, and offers options such as Eco, Pro, and Rental Car tailored to each business operator’s characteristics from freight transport to rental cars.
[Care] Comprehensive Disinfection Service ‘Caps Clean Care’
ADT Caps affiliate ‘Capstec’ launched the comprehensive disinfection service ‘Caps Clean Care’ in August. It provides customized solutions covering sterilization and disinfection that remove pathogenic microorganisms including viruses and bacteria such as COVID-19, pest control for walking pests like rats, cockroaches, and ants, and flying pest control for pests like fruit flies, flies, and mosquitoes.
[Industrial Safety] Commercialization of ‘Industrial Safety Management IoT Solution’
In August, ADT Caps established the ‘Smart Safety Platform’ at SK Construction headquarters, serving as a safety situation room. It is an integrated system that monitors worker safety through various smart devices such as intelligent mobile CCTV and wearable cameras and allows simultaneous real-time monitoring of work status on-site and at headquarters via an online dashboard. Through this collaboration, ADT Caps plans to expand industrial safety-related solutions to various industries in the future.
