Daejeon City Supports New Employment for Small Business Owners with Up to 1.2 Million KRW per Month

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City supports new employment for local small business owners.

The city announced on the 18th that it will provide additional support for the labor costs of 930 newly hired workers by local small business owners.

Starting from new hires after August 10, the city will support labor costs for one employee per business, covering up to 90% of the minimum wage-based labor costs.

The supported labor costs range from a monthly minimum of 463,860 KRW to a maximum of 1.2 million KRW based on working hours, and can be received for up to three months.

For example, if a newly hired worker at a small business earning the minimum wage of 8,590 KRW works up to 156 hours per month, the city will support 1.2 million KRW, which corresponds to 90% of the total wage.

However, to receive support, the newly hired worker must be enrolled in the four major social insurances, and the number of employees must be maintained without reduction during the support period.

Applications will begin on the 19th of this month and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more detailed information about the small business new employment labor cost support project, please refer to the city’s website or the Daejeon Economic and Trade Promotion Agency website under the ‘Small Business New Employment Labor Cost Support Project 2nd Announcement.’

Ko Hyun-deok, Director of the City’s Job Economy Bureau, said, “We hope that the support for labor costs for new employment of small business owners will, even if modestly, contribute to job creation and economic recovery in the region.”
