On the 16th, the law firm Seopyeong, to which former Prosecutor General Chae belongs, stated in a position paper, "Our firm has no involvement or role whatsoever in contacting Optimus officials, providing advice, or contacting prosecution officials related to the Optimus fraud case."
According to a document titled 'Meeting Topic' prepared by Kim Jaehyun, CEO of Optimus, and others, they planned that if a problem arises, it is necessary to actively consider Kim's escape, and in this case, prosecution work implying that the investigation would be difficult due to the main culprit's escape is essential. It also noted, "Consultation with Prosecutor General Chae and others is necessary."
Seopyeong explained, "Our firm was completely unaware of the contents related to this fraud case and immediately terminated the advisory contract in June of this year, right after the issue surfaced." They also clarified, "It is true that we took on the case of Mr. Yoo (advisor of Skin&Skin, indicted in custody) during the Seongji Construction investigation by the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and defended him, but we resigned after the indictment in custody," adding, "This was unrelated to the Optimus case that has recently become an issue."
They added, "We find it absurd and very regrettable why Optimus would create false internal documents with some intention and why such documents are circulating."
