[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 15th that it received the ‘Ones to Watch Awards’ from IT specialized marketing company IDG (International Data Group), an award given to next-generation leaders in the IT field.

The Ones to Watch Awards selects and honors 50 global technology leaders who possess the capability and expertise to lead future IT technologies. Among them, Kim Bo-jun, a team leader at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, was the only recipient from Korea.

Team Leader Kim received the award for his contributions to Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ smart factory construction and digital transformation implementation, including the integration of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, as well as IT strategy establishment.

In particular, he contributed to enhancing the company’s manufacturing competitiveness by building the MES. Since 2015, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has established the AI-based next-generation MES 3.0 across all domestic and overseas business sites, organically connecting all production-related processes from design to manufacturing.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics explained that by applying MES 3.0 to three domestic and five overseas subsidiaries, it manages manufacturing sites without spatial and temporal constraints, enabling an annual cost reduction of approximately 72 billion KRW.

Team Leader Kim stated, "I will strive to digitalize all business processes of Samsung Electro-Mechanics to secure a super-gap competitiveness."

Samsung Electro-Mechanics was also the only domestic ICT company to receive the Global Technology Innovation Leading Top 100 Companies (CIO 100 Awards) in 2019.
