Competition Rate for Public and Private, Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special Education Teacher Exams Slightly Decreases from Last Year

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) announced on the 13th that in the '2021 Academic Year Public and Private Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special School (Kindergarten and Elementary) Teacher Appointment Candidate Selection Competitive Exam,' 1,421 applicants applied for 458 openings, showing an average competition rate of 3.1 to 1.
Compared to last year, when 1,641 applicants applied for 465 openings, showing an average competition rate of 3.53 to 1, the competition rate slightly decreased.
According to this year's application results, for kindergarten teachers, 582 applicants (11.88:1) applied for 49 general recruitment positions, and 1 applicant (0.25:1) applied for 4 positions in the disabled category recruitment.
For elementary school teachers, 725 applicants (2.04:1) applied for 356 general recruitment positions, and 16 applicants (0.59:1) applied for 27 positions in the disabled category recruitment.
For kindergarten special school teachers, 20 applicants (3.33:1) applied for 6 general recruitment positions, while there were no applicants for the 1 position in the disabled category recruitment.
For elementary special school teachers, 74 applicants (5.69:1) applied for 13 general recruitment positions, and 3 applicants (1.5:1) applied for 2 positions in the disabled category recruitment.
By age group, those in their 20s were the most numerous with 1,109 applicants (78.1%), followed by those in their 30s with 239 (16.8%), 40s with 70 (4.9%), and 50s with 3 (0.2%).
By gender, females numbered 1,180 (83%), far exceeding males at 241 (17%). The oldest applicant was a 60-year-old woman.
The location for the first written exam will be announced on the Office of Education website at 10 a.m. on October 30. Applicants must enter the exam venue by 8:30 a.m. on November 7 with their admission ticket and ID card.
