[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The family of the president of the Korea Simmani Association, who was found dead last month in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, has raised suspicions of homicide and is urging a reinvestigation.

According to the police and fire authorities on the 8th, A (62), the president of the Korea Simmani Association, was found dead on a mountain in Chugok-ri, Buksan-myeon, Chuncheon City, at 9:47 a.m. on the 26th of last month.

At the time, after receiving a report from a resident stating "A could not be contacted," police and firefighters who responded discovered A lying dead in a field near his home. It was reported that farming tools such as a plow were placed nearby.

The police are investigating with a high possibility of death due to myocardial infarction, based on statements from the family that A suffered from heart disease.

However, the family claims that "traces of being stabbed by an unknown object were found on A's body" and has requested a detailed investigation.

On the 7th, a petition titled "The death of my uncle who appeared on the MBN broadcast program 'I am a Natural Person' is suspicious. Please help" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.

The petitioner, who identified themselves as A's nephew, said, "When I first heard the news of my uncle, the president of the Korea Simmani Association, dying, I thought he had passed away due to an illness," adding, "However, during the encoffining process, traces of being stabbed by an unknown object were found behind both the left and right ears."

He continued, "An autopsy was requested from the National Forensic Service, and since stabbing by external force is suspected, tests related to poison are also being conducted."

The petitioner also claimed that the initial police investigation was inadequate. He urged, "It is suspicious that the family was not contacted after the missing person report, that the details during the search and discovery were not accurately explained, and that the family was not informed about the external injuries. While the suspicious circumstances may not be true, I earnestly request that if reasonable suspicion arises, the investigation be actively pursued."

Meanwhile, the police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service at the family's request. The police plan to decide on whether to reinvestigate based on the autopsy results.
