Art Exhibition at Nonhyeon-dong Furniture Street from 9 to 18, Live YouTube Broadcast... Side Events Including 'Show Window Gallery'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) will simultaneously hold the massive art competition "2020 Art Prize Gangnam" both online and offline from the 9th to the 18th at Nonhyeon-dong Furniture Street (Nonhyeon-dong to Hakdong Station, round trip 1.9km) as an "Ontact" leader.
Hosted by Gangnam-gu, the Art Prize Gangnam Organizing Committee, and the Gangnam Cultural Foundation, and sponsored by the Korea Amway Future Foundation and Shinhan Bank, this competition features 1,625 entries, with 100 pieces exhibited during the event period.
To prevent COVID-19, the district has arranged for real-time enjoyment through SNS platforms such as YouTube, while on-site viewing is possible only after making a reservation in advance on the "Art Prize Gangnam" website.
The award-winning works will be selected through on-site voting by visitors both online and offline, as well as expert judging. The final five selected teams will receive prize money of up to 10 million KRW and the opportunity to participate in the "Art Prize Gangnam Showcase" in February next year.
In addition, a total of 17 attractions will be offered, including the "Show Window Gallery and Concert" utilizing the show windows of 15 stores on Nonhyeon-dong Furniture Street, a "Star Chef Cooking Show," and a "Selfie Gallery."
There will also be a "Protective Suit Exhibition" featuring messages of support from famous artists on protective suits dedicated to all medical staff working hard on COVID-19 prevention, along with a "Thank You Concert."
Jung Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "The resident-participatory cultural and art competition '2020 Art Prize Gangnam' was planned with the purpose of revitalizing the depressed Nonhyeon-dong Furniture Street and delivering messages of hope and comfort to residents exhausted by COVID-19, serving as a model case of 'K-art competitions' like 'K-POP' and 'K-quarantine.'" He added, "We will show the world that safe and creative cultural events are possible as an 'Ontact Festival.'"
