Road Traffic Authority to Implement Saturday Work at Driver's License Test Centers Starting This Month 17th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 6th that it will implement special Saturday duty at driver’s license examination centers on the 17th of this month under a 'full reservation system by visit time.'

The special Saturday duty was previously held on the second Saturday of every month, but this month it has been adjusted to the third Saturday due to the Hangul Day holiday. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, civil service tasks will only be processed for those who have made a reservation for their visit time online or by phone before visiting.

The civil services available on Saturdays include first-class driver’s license aptitude tests, second-class renewals, and reissuance. Issuance of international licenses or exchanges of foreign or military licenses must be done on weekdays.

Since special Saturday duty is implemented at only 19 out of the 27 driver’s license examination centers nationwide, it is advisable to check in advance whether the nearby center operates special Saturday duty before visiting.

For detailed information and reservations, visit the 'Safe Driving Integrated Civil Service' website (www.safedriving.or.kr) or contact the Authority’s Customer Support Center at 1577-1120.

An official from the Authority stated, “The full reservation system is operated on special Saturday duty days to minimize crowding and prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as to alleviate inconvenience caused by long waiting times. We will do our best to ensure visitors can safely complete their civil service tasks.”
