The Institution with the Highest Average Annual Salary per Employee is Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power with 95 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Korea Western Power and Korea Power Exchange have ranked first in starting annual salary for college graduates among public institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with a starting salary of 45 million KRW.
According to data on the "Starting Annual Salary for College Graduates at Public Institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy," submitted by the Ministry to Lee Joo-hwan, a member of the People Power Party on the National Assembly's Industry, Trade, and Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, the average starting salary for new employees at public institutions under the ministry, excluding three institutions that did not hire new employees in 2020, was 35 million KRW.
The institutions with the highest starting salary for college graduates were Korea Western Power and Korea Power Exchange, reaching 45 million KRW. They were followed by Korea Gas Corporation (44 million KRW), Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (43.5 million KRW), and Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (43 million KRW).
The institution with the largest increase in starting salary compared to 2016 was also Korea Western Power (8 million KRW), drawing attention. Next were Korea Power Exchange (7 million KRW), Korea South-East Power (6 million KRW), Korea Gas Safety Corporation (5.98 million KRW), and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (5 million KRW).
Meanwhile, the institution with the highest average annual salary per employee was Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, reaching 95 million KRW. It was followed by Korea South-West Power with 93 million KRW, Korea Western Power with 92 million KRW, Korea South-East Power with 91 million KRW, and Korea East-West Power with 90 million KRW.

Lee emphasized, "Public institutions are known as the 'dream workplace' that all job seekers most want to join, not only because of high salaries but also due to stable treatment," adding, "Beyond simply being a dream workplace, they must be reborn as exemplary institutions trusted by the public with a sense of mission to create social responsibility and value in Korea's industry, trade, and development sectors."
