Gyeongbuk Province Opens 'Women and Family Plaza' in Provincial Government New Town... Family-Friendly Complex Experience Space

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The 'Gyeongbuk Women and Family Plaza,' a family-friendly complex cultural space, will soon officially open in the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government New Town.

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 4th, the Gyeongbuk Women and Family Plaza, consisting of a hanok-style building, covers a site area of 12,495㎡. Construction began in December 2017 and was completed in April this year. The opening ceremony was planned for September 3rd but was postponed due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Gyeongbuk Province plans to start full operations as soon as possible right after the Chuseok holiday.

The plaza houses the Gyeongbuk Women's Policy Development Institute, the Gyeongbuk Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, and the Gyeongbuk Northern Youth Sexual Culture Center. Additionally, women's and family-related organizations and corporations such as the Gyeongbuk Women's Association Council and the Gyeongbuk Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute have also secured new bases here.

The Gyeongbuk Women and Family Plaza is equipped with a large auditorium with 380 seats capable of various stage productions, a multipurpose hall for 180 people, a cooking experience room and a computer education room that can accommodate about 20 people simultaneously, as well as a book cafe and lecture rooms.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "We expect the Gyeongbuk Women and Family Plaza to contribute to spreading a culture of gender equality and making Gyeongbuk a good place to have and raise children," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the plaza provides laughter and happiness to women and families living in Gyeongbuk and becomes a familiar space for the residents."
