[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] On the 3rd, Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "There was a meaningful exchange of opinions with Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, regarding the launch of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (Hogeum) and the Fair Economy 3 Acts."


Leader Lee and Chairman Kim walked out side by side after the National Foundation Day celebration held at the National Folk Museum in Seoul that morning and had a conversation for several minutes. After the event, Leader Lee shared a photo on his Facebook showing him talking with Chairman Kim at the National Foundation Day event, saying, "I walked and talked with Chairman Kim," and added, "There was a meaningful exchange of opinions especially about the launch of the Hogeum and the passage of the Fair Economy 3 Acts. We will advance these well."


The Democratic Party aims to pass the Fair Economy 3 Acts within the September regular session of the National Assembly and to launch the Hogeum by November. However, Chairman Kim did not make any particular statement regarding the content of the conversation that day.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, Leader Lee visited Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and met with Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, and leaders of city and village bus drivers. After the meeting, Leader Lee posted on his Facebook, "Seongdong-gu is the first in the nation to enact and implement an ordinance for the protection and support of essential workers," and added, "We will consider ways to guarantee the protection and support of essential workers by law."
