[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the occasion of the 72nd Armed Forces Day on the 1st, the People Power Party stated, “The public is well aware that our military has strived to firmly protect the territory and people of the Republic of Korea despite the unstable security situation on the Korean Peninsula,” adding, “However, it is also true that since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration, some soldiers disappointed the public by protecting the regime instead of the people.”

Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the People Power Party, said in a commentary that day, “In particular, the military was powerless in the face of North Korea’s provocation that shot our people,” and “Unarmed citizens were shot and burned, yet instead of strong retaliation, the military lay down like reeds. North Korea did not violate the military agreement, and rather, by claiming it seemed like our people defected to the North, they killed the deceased twice.”

Spokesperson Kim pointed out, “The military, which should fight the enemy, did not fight and became a prisoner of politics. When the military is unmilitary-like, whom should the people trust and rely on now?” He added, “Regarding the suspicion of ‘emperor leave’ for the son of Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae, the military went all out to protect one person, the minister’s son, instead of the 600,000 young soldiers. We question the existence of political soldiers who act as North Korea’s spokesperson and the Justice Minister’s secretary.”

Spokesperson Kim emphasized, “The People Power Party will take the lead in restoring the pride and honor of the Republic of Korea’s armed forces,” and “We ask the president where he intends to lead this country with the declaration of the end of the war, which was obtained by being indifferent to the deaths of the people and cheering North Korea’s responses. We will strive to help ensure that young people in Korea can live their military life without discrimination, even if their mothers are not ruling party leaders or ministers.”

Spokesperson Kim said, “Under the principle and foundation that peace is maintained by strong power, we will make every policy effort to ensure the safe lives of the people.”
