[Asia Economy Reporter Hanah Na] Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju, criticized, "This government, which promised to create a fair and just society, seems to be reversing fairness and justice."

On the 30th, Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, wrote on his Facebook, "The spirit of the candlelight protests is integration and the future. The process does not support one side over the other. It is everyone's candlelight and everyone's process."

He pointed out, "The state should embrace the people and give hope, but it shows anger," adding, "The government we trusted and relied on has betrayed justice and ignored fairness."

He further claimed, "South Korea is drifting amid the COVID-19 crisis and the loss of fairness and justice," and added, "We must never surrender or give up."

He then emphasized not to give up by quoting Winston Churchill's slogan "NEVER GIVE UP," which he shouted for Britain during the crisis caused by Hitler's occupation of Europe.
