[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it has won the Minister of Employment and Labor Award for three consecutive years in the nationwide local government job awards.

Changwon, which had no awards from 2013 to 2017 after its initial win in 2013, was selected as a model city for job creation for three consecutive years among 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide with this year's award. This year, it received generally high scores in indicators such as 'commitment of the head of the local government,' 'creativity and suitability of job policies,' 'policy effectiveness,' and 'efforts to improve quality.'

Additionally, it was recognized as a nationwide exemplary case for ▲ exceeding the job disclosure target by 136% ▲ leading the reimplementation of the automobile industry retirement workforce reemployment support project in response to employment adjustments in the local automobile industry ▲ promoting public job projects for improving living environments such as 'vacant land parking lots' and 'creation of nature-friendly resting spaces' ▲ implementing Changwon-settling youth support projects such as Gyeongnam's first youth asset formation savings account, Youth Tomorrow Account ▲ and attracting the Social Economy Innovation Town.

Changwon City operated its own job impact assessment system to achieve the goal of creating 33,204 jobs. As a result, it achieved 45,386 jobs created, exceeding the job disclosure target by 136%.

Furthermore, it proactively led the reimplementation this year of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's automobile retirement workforce reemployment support project, which was originally scheduled to end last year, matching retired automobile industry workers with related companies and enabling them to receive employment incentives of up to 2.5 million KRW per month per hire for up to nine months.

Mayor Heo Seong-mu of Changwon said, "I am pleased that Changwon City's job policies in the 7th term of the elected government received excellent evaluations following last year," and pledged, "We will do our best without wavering to minimize job shocks and to promote job measures for early overcoming of employment crises."
