Seoul City, "Completely Block Gaecheonjeol Rally ... Will Prosecute Organizers and Participants"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government has reiterated that it will completely block the city center rally scheduled for October 3rd, National Foundation Day, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Park Yu-mi, Seoul’s Quarantine Control Officer (Director of the Citizen Health Bureau), stated in an online briefing on COVID-19 on the 29th, "We have completed the prohibition order for the groups that reported the National Foundation Day rally, and we are jointly responding with the government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to completely block the rally."

She added, "Vehicle rallies are currently banned because gatherings may occur before and after the rally, and to prevent cases of mass infection caused by unexpected additional rallies like the one on Liberation Day."

Officer Park emphasized, "If the National Foundation Day rally is held, both the organizers and participants will be prosecuted based on on-site evidence, and if confirmed cases occur, claims for damages will also be pursued. We urge the groups involved to make the decision to cancel."

Earlier, the police announced that they would take administrative measures, including possible cancellation of driver’s licenses, in response to vehicle rallies on National Foundation Day.
