Central region will become cloudy from midnight
Rain expected in some areas starting the day after Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] This Chuseok, the full moon will be visible through the clouds. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted on the 29th that during the Chuseok holiday period (September 30 to October 4), temperatures will tend to drop across most regions nationwide, with a temperature difference of more than 10 degrees Celsius between day and night, especially in inland areas.
From the afternoon of the first day of the holiday, the 30th, rain will fall in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon Yeongseo, and northern Chungcheong. Due to the easterly winds, rain will continue in Gangwon Yeongdong until the morning of the 1st of next month. On Chuseok day, there will be no rain, allowing the full moon to be seen through the clouds. However, in the central regions, it will gradually become cloudy around midnight, making it difficult to see the full moon. According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the moonrise times on Chuseok day in major cities are 6:20 PM in Seoul, Gwangju, and Jeju, 6:11 PM in Busan, and the moon rises 2 minutes later in Daegu.
From the day after Chuseok, some regions will experience rain. On the afternoon of the 2nd of next month, rain will fall in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon Yeongseo; on the morning of the 3rd, in Chungcheong and Jeolla; and in the afternoon, in Jeju. Rain will continue in Jeju until the 4th. As cold air strongly flows in, daytime temperatures will not rise much, especially in central regions, remaining around 20 degrees Celsius, which is 1 to 2 degrees lower than the average. Depending on the strength of the cold air, the areas experiencing rain may expand.
The Korea Meteorological Administration advised caution for traffic safety due to reduced visibility caused by fog and rain. On the 30th and the 1st of next month, temperatures will drop overnight, causing dense fog mainly in inland areas during early morning and dawn. On the 2nd and 3rd, visibility will be low in regions experiencing rain. On the 4th, strong winds are expected nationwide.
