Sejong to Provide 'Special Care Support Fund' for Preschool Children

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 28th that it has provided a 'Special Care Support Fund' to about 30,000 preschool children in the region to alleviate the burden of childcare and parenting.

The support targets preschool children born between January 2014 and September 2020 who are receiving child allowance as of this month, with 200,000 KRW provided per child.

The Special Care Support Fund was paid in cash to the child allowance payment accounts using the system without a separate application.

In addition to preschool children, the city also provides the Special Care Support Fund to elementary and middle school students. The Sejong City Office of Education deposits 200,000 KRW per elementary school student and 150,000 KRW per middle school student next month into their school banking accounts.

Kim Jong-rak, head of the Child and Youth Division of the city, said, “We hope the Special Care Support Fund will provide some help to families caring for children, whose burden has increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.”
