Gimhae Airport International Flights Stretch Out After Half a Year... Air Busan Resumes Busan~Qingdao Route

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] The international flights at Gimhae International Airport, which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will effectively resume after about half a year.

Air Busan announced on the 29th that it will resume the Incheon?Qingdao, China route starting October 15. This comes 233 days after the route was suspended due to the spread of COVID-19.

Air Busan's Incheon?Qingdao route will operate once a week, departing from Gimhae Airport at 10:35 AM every Thursday and arriving in Qingdao at 11:35 AM.

However, this flight will depart from Qingdao, stop at Gimhae Airport according to the government's unified quarantine guidelines, and then proceed to Incheon International Airport for entry procedures. Passengers will use Gimhae Airport for departure but will effectively complete entry procedures through Incheon Airport upon arrival.

Thus, Gimhae Airport will resume international flights six months after suspension on April 6, following the government's unified quarantine guidelines.

Air Busan plans to limit passengers to 165 seats, about 75% of total capacity, in accordance with Chinese quarantine standards.

An Air Busan official stated, "We are implementing a thorough safety operation system with strong quarantine measures such as passenger fever checks using thermal cameras, in-flight disinfection, social distancing between seats, and mandatory mask-wearing onboard," adding, "Qingdao is a city with many factories and overseas offices of companies in the southeastern region as well as many Korean students, so this will benefit local businesspeople and students in terms of transportation convenience."
