Three New City Bus Stop Platforms Established and Two Replaced by October... Selected Locations Include Heukseokdong Hangang Hyundai Apartment, Sangdo Elementary School Entrance, and Daebang Station Exit 1 Following Resident Feedback
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will establish and replace five city bus stop boarding platforms within the district by October to enhance convenience and safety in public transportation.
This project is being carried out to resolve ongoing complaints about the lack of boarding platforms at roadside city bus stops and to protect the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable groups.
Currently, there are 117 roadside city bus stops in the area, with 60 of them equipped with boarding platforms.
The district finalized the selection of three new boarding platforms and two replacements after preliminary inspections and gathering residents' opinions by August.
The target locations are ▲ Hangang Hyundai Apartment in Heukseok-dong (151 Hyeonchung-ro, new installation) ▲ In front of Exit 1 of Daebang Station (101-30 Daebang-dong, new installation) ▲ Rear gate of Sangdo 3rd Samsung Raemian (53-gil Sangdo-ro, new installation) ▲ Sangdo Traditional Market at Jungang Heightsville in Sangdo-dong (Sangdo-ro, replacement) ▲ Entrance of Sangdo Elementary School (Sangdo-ro, replacement), totaling five sites.
The newly installed boarding platforms will feature improved design and functions for residents' safety and convenience, including ▲ shelters to protect against cold, rain, and wind ▲ waiting seats ▲ route maps for each bus ▲ first and last bus timetables, and outdated facilities will be replaced.
Additionally, the district strengthened public transportation services by expanding the installation of BIT (Bus Information System) at five village bus stops last year to provide convenience to residents.
In particular, ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, when resident movement is high, the district will intensify disinfection and safety inspections of village buses before and after the holiday period to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
During the holiday, buses will adhere to scheduled dispatch times and operate normally, with cleaning and disinfection conducted inside and outside the buses after each run.
Han Dae-hee, Head of the Transportation Administration Division, said, “We will do our best to enhance the convenience of users by expanding and improving city bus stop boarding platforms to enable convenient public transportation use,” and added, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will thoroughly disinfect public transportation and facilities to protect residents' health and safety.”
