Let's Share the Joy of the Holidays with Foreign Workers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] On the 25th, the community teams participating in the Resident Proposal Project operated by the Namwon City Community Support Center in Namwon City held a 'Chuseok Holiday Food Sharing Event' for foreign workers spending the Chuseok holiday away from home.

This sharing event was held at a manpower office located in Namwon City, timed to coincide with the end of the workday for foreign workers living as daily laborers in Namwon City. They delivered 35 servings of traditional Korean holiday foods such as songpyeon, buchimgae, and fruits, sharing the joy of Chuseok together.

The Resident Proposal Project, which is proposed and executed by residents of five or more people to realize a sustainable resident community, has a total of 28 teams participating this year, each working on their own themes.

Among them, the community team 'Namwonin-ui Bapsang,' formed to promote the consumption of local agricultural products and revitalize community food culture, and the 'Haeoragi Bawitgol' team, consisting of Noam-dong residents who gather to make side dishes to foster interaction among residents and neighbors in welfare blind spots, are community activation projects through food.

The event held on this day, uniting the power of communities under the single theme of 'food sharing,' is recognized as a model case that positively spreads community awareness to the local society through exchanges between communities.

Lee Gyuyong, Director of the Namwon City Community Support Center, said, "I hope that communities created by residents themselves through the Resident Proposal Project will share the joys and sorrows of village residents and spread warmth throughout the Namwon area," adding, "The Namwon City Community Support Center plans to seek ways to expand the influence of community projects in the local society through continuous interest and monitoring of communities."
